We reviewed what we have accomplished so far in the SHORT STORY UNIT, namely created a character, and come up with various settings (inspired by music).  We discussed atmosphere and imagery and the key ideas in “The Portable Phonograph” (126).  This included STATIC CHARACTERS.

We then listened to Christopher Lee read “The Tell-Tale Heart” (56), and discussed the appropriateness of the FIRST PERSON POINT OF VIEW.  Details on POINT OF VIEW can be found in the glossary (323).

We ended the class by practicing point of view by writing the climax of either “Goldilocks,” “Littler Red Ridinghood,” or “Hansel and Gretel” from the weirdest, most unexpected point of view. This was handed in at the end of class.
